Ecuador's Highlands and Rainforest

Ecuador Rainforest rafting in the AmazonEcuador is a land of amazing geologic and cultural diversity packed into a country only the size of Colorado. It is roughly divided into 4 zones, the upper Amazon basin in the east, the central highlands, the coastal region running along the Pacific, and the Galapagos Islands which are about six hundred miles offshore. Our new tour explores the northern highlands and upper Amazon basin which just happen to be our two favorite regions. If you would like to visit the Galapagos as well we can also help you arrange it.

This concept of this nine day trip allows you to experience these fascinating parts of Ecuador's culture and countryside without having to rough it. Besides visiting colonial Quito you have the opportunity to enjoy the spectacular vistas of the high Andes from a beautiful hot springs resort pool and the headwaters of the Amazon Basin from a raft. For years we have been visiting these same areas with our whitewater kayaking trips and are now excited to share them with more travelers. Besides taking a scenic hike most days and running the rapids of a tributary to the Amazon River you'll have time to bargain for souvenirs at the most famous handcraft market in Ecuador.

This trip is great for families or anyone wanting to enjoy the outdoors of Ecuador without going to extremes. The lodging is outstanding, the food wonderfully diverse and the pace of the trip allows a time for exploration. For anyone not desiring to go paddle rafting we can arrange off river activities for that day.
