Kayaking in Ecuador is a kayak vacation to book soon!

Kayaking in Ecuador provides an experience much more than just a paddling trip to one of the world's best kayaking locations. Ecuador is the size of Colorado and besides kayaking you can experience wonderful beaches and surfing, the highlands and indigenous cultures of the Andes as well as the rainforest in the Amazon basin. The best kayaking regions in Ecuador span the foothills of the Andes and the upper reaches of the Amazon basin in the Quijos and Napo valleys east of Quito. Ecuador's Latin culture is strong and friendly, travel is easy and safe and the country is relatively inexpensive although prices have been creeping up a bit over the last few years. Because of the incredible density of great kayaking rivers you can paddle more different runs, close together, than in any other Latin country including Costa Rica, Mexico and Chile. The kayaking season in Ecuador is year-around since the climate is warm and the rivers flow all 12 months. The favorite paddling months are November through February in the popular kayaking areas of the Quijos and Napo river valleys. Although Ecuador has a wet and dry season they are not well defined as in some other countries where a monsoon season or a summer run off occurs. It can rain a lot or be dry and sunny any week of the year and quite likely will be both during your visit. The dry season in the Quijos and Napo valleys is October through February and that is when you'll have a better chance to find fun water levels with less risk of being flooded off the harder runs. In the Santo Domingo region the rainy season is January through August and that is the popular time to paddle there.
